Course Spotlights
CON 105 Wildland Fire
In this course, students receive an introduction to wildland fire management, including Incident Command System (ICS) and National Incident Management System (NIMS) frameworks, fire behavior, suppression strategies, public policy, safety practices, and components of S-130/190 certification training.
CON 200 Wildlife Law Enforcement
In this course, students analyze the constitutional foundations of state and federal wildlife laws, including the Lacey Act, Migratory Bird Treaty Act, and Endangered Species Act, and apply legal principles to contemporary wildlife enforcement issues.
CON 346 North American Wildlife/Fisheries Identification
In this course, students develop knowledge of the distribution, natural history, taxonomy, and identification of major North American game and selected non-game species, incorporating specimen-based learning and management considerations.
CON 426 Wildlife Trafficking
In this course, students study wildlife and conservation crime from global and U.S. perspectives, examining the social, political, and economic factors driving illegal trade and its impacts on biodiversity and international security.
