The Undergraduate Certificate in Aquatic Animal Care equips students with applied skills in marine and freshwater animal care, including behavior, health, nutrition, habitat design, and welfare best practices. Courses prepare students to address the biological, ecological, and welfare needs of aquatic species with practical knowledge applicable to professional animal care settings.

AB 101 Foundations of Animal Studies

In this course students examine different fields and occupations within the animal studies field and the types of work that are included in each of these industries.

AB 201 Animal Behavior

In this course, students study animal behavior through biological and psychological lenses, including deep exploration into the behavior of a species of the student’s choosing.

AB 325 Aquatic Animal Care

In this course, students are introduced to principles and practices in the care, management, and welfare of aquatic animals across marine and freshwater environments.

AB 425 Aquatic Animal Habitats

This course emphasizes the design, assessment, and management of aquatic habitats that promote species-specific welfare and ecological sustainability.
