The B.S. in Marine Biology and Conservation provides interdisciplinary knowledge and practical skills to conserve marine organisms and ecosystems. Course Spotlights

SC 210 Marine Biology

In this course, students study marine ecosystems and the adaptations and interactions of ocean organisms, with emphasis on diverse habitats including the Gulf of Maine, open ocean, deep sea, intertidal zones, estuaries, and polar and tropical regions.

SC 214 Marine Botany and Biodiversity

In this course, students explore the diversity, ecology, and ecological roles of marine plants and algae, examining their contributions to ocean ecosystems, primary productivity, and habitat structure.

SC 317 Oceanography: From Currents to Climate

Coursework examines the physical, chemical, geological, and biological processes that shape the world’s oceans, including ocean circulation, climate systems, and the ocean’s role in global environmental change.

SC 480 Wildlife Biology and Conservation Capstone

In this capstone course, students design and complete an independent project in wildlife biology, conservation, or related fields, culminating in a written thesis and oral presentation that synthesizes knowledge and skills gained throughout the program.
