For those interested in wildlife care within professional settings, Husson offers a Wildlife Care and Rehabilitation Certificate. This program equips students with the knowledge to apply animal behavior and basic care principles in environments like zoos or rehabilitation centers. The curriculum includes safe handling, transportation, and training of wildlife, understanding basic nutrition, health, disease transmission, and designing appropriate habitat enclosures. FACULTY SPOTLIGHT

Dr. Aly McKnight is a population biologist and Assistant Professor in Husson University’s College of Science and Humanities. With a PhD from the University of Maine, she spent over a decade with US Fish and Wildlife monitoring wildlife recovery after the 1989 Exxon Valdez oil spill. Her research examines how environmental factors influence seabirds and drive population dynamics. Previously at Unity College, she brings a hands-on educational approach developed while training field crews in Alaska.
